Count Your Blessings is a hymn about gratitude.
It’s a call to live beyond discouragement, difficulty, and despair
while striving to truly appreciate and be mindful of the
many blessings which the Lord has freely given.

  1. Indeed, how many blessings, a gift from God. And you are a 5 star blessing. God cherishes you, and we thank you for sharing your life and reflections with us. I love the list and wondered what blessing would fall under ¨Z¨. Love, Genevieve

    1. Good Morning, Genevieve. No idea what would “fall under ‘Z'” . . . a mystery blessing, no doubt! You and Dolfi have a special slot in “G” and “D.” 🙂

  2. Thank you for the encouragement to ALWAYS find things to be thankful. Once we get rolling, we realize our list is actually really long! PTL!! ❤️

    1. Thank you, Wendy. Reminded of Lamentations 3:22-23 (Amplified Bible): “It is because of the Lord’s mercy and loving-kindness that we are not consumed, because His [tender] compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great and abundant is Your stability and faithfulness.” The “list” is never-ending!

  3. You are amazing Leslie. Thank you. A good reminder as I have been feeling a bit Job-like regarding how life all of a sudden, as you too are experiencing unexpected turn of events of various areas of life. I need to list my many blessings too. I have been seeing God’s goodness and provision in many ways too. Needing to focus on them and His continued grace for each day. Love you.

    1. Dearest Faye . . . Our God is the One Who is amazing! 2 Corinthians, chapter one, is coming alive for me as never before. (Amplified Bible)—”3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of sympathy (pity and mercy) and the God [Who is the Source] of every comfort (consolation and encouragement), 4 Who comforts (consoles and encourages) us in every trouble (calamity and affliction), so that we may also be able to comfort (console and encourage) those who are in any kind of trouble or distress, with the comfort (consolation and encouragement) with which we ourselves are comforted (consoled and encouraged) by God.”

Only when we are first-hand recipients of God’s consolation during a time of immense hardship will we know how to reach out to others who are experiencing great stress and suffering. One day, you will able to be the “arms of Jesus” to someone experiencing awful grief . . . because you understand.

    1. Katie . . . “A-Z” was not my original intention. I just started thinking of the many things that are blessings and added them to my working list. Then, to make sure there were no duplicates, they were arranged in alphabetical order. As you can see, some letters are not represented [yet] with matching words. 😉

    1. Thank you, Kathrene. God alone sends countless blessings. It’s our thanks He longs for. Artists need to receive due credit for their originals! 😉

  4. Z for zest of life in Jesus that He gives us. I do the alphabet list of all God’s qualities every so often just as a reminder of who we serve. You are so right – we are to give thanks for all things even when it is difficult from our view. Keep the blog coming.

    1. Sharon, let’s add encouragement between emotions and eyes on my “short list.” Encouragement is essential, and much of it is arriving via comments on this blog. Thank you so much❣️

  5. This is a great list – I would like to add S for sister to the mix. It’s a wonderful way to count our blessings. I often use the alphabet to pray for friends and acquaintances (almost somebody for every letter), if not today then tomorrow for sure.
    Love you lots!

    1. Good Morning, Julie! That’s why I call it “My Short List . . .” Thank you for adding the all-important S for sister❣️ My short list just got a little longer. Love you, too. 🙂
